Here's a short CV: I'm an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Ioannina, and part of the Computational Materials Science Laboratoty . My education includes a B.Sc. in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA in 1999. The positions I have held include Research Assistant at Ames Lab-U.S.DOE and Dept. of Physics and Astronomy , Iowa State University ('96-'99), Postdoctoral Research Associate at CCLMS, BCVC and Dept. of Physics & Astronomy, Louisiana State University ('99-'01), Postdoctoral Research Fellow at RLE and Dept. of Physics, MIT ('01-'04), Design Engineer at Luminus Devices Inc., Woburn, Massachusetts ('03-'06), Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina ('06-'12), and Assocoate Professor at the University of Ioannina ('12-). My research interests are:
- computational electrodynamics and multi-scale modelling of materials
- nanophotonics, plasmonics, photonic crystals
- plasmonics for solar harvesting applications
- optical proprties of graphene, carbon nanotubes
- photonic applications and devices
